Cover your bases. Don't complicate your lifetime. Prepare yourself. I have no idea where or how these lessons were drilled into my head, but they were.
So when I started looking at rewards charge cards, I focused on a card that will do not only charge me. It had to be advantageous for my situation, specifically for rewards and travel. Therefore, the main city One Venture Rewards credit card was at the top my list and that i have been a cardholder for seven years. Here is definitely an summary of the benefits of Capital One Venture and why I keep your card active and prepared.
Flat Rewards
Figuring out which spend categories will generate the most charge card rewards isn't something I like, so I was drawn to the simplicity of earning unlimited 2X miles on all purchases. For this reason, I personally use my Capital One Venture for most major purchases over $100, whether it's to upgrade a phone, buy clothes, or do holiday shopping. If I charge $1,500 per month, I know Capital One will deposit 3,000 miles within my rewards bank. It's a simple calculation.
The only exception to the opportunity to earn 2 miles per dollar is positive, and it's a similarly easy reward to earn. When I book hotel rooms through Capital One Travel with my Venture Rewards card, I recieve 5 miles for each dollar spent. It's an enormous incentive to use this card for the holidays. Signing up for a $1,000 hotel bill isn't fun, but a minimum of I understand I'll earn 5,000 miles, which is worth $50 around the trip.
Fun to watch the miles pile up
I like being able to see just how many miles I'm earning for each charge. I simply log in to the website and navigate to the \”Earn Business\” portion of my account.
For example, this month, my mother was in town, and I took her out for any fancy meal. This bill was $188.44 and earned me 377 miles. I splurged on two pairs of sunglasses for $145.39 which got me 291 miles. It's like checking the progress of a checking account.
With regular activity, the miles accumulate quickly. Like just about everyone else, I had been housebound for many of 2022 and early 2022. I simply reviewed my mileage balance, and nearly 50,000 miles are in my account. That's about a $500 round trip ticket to all over the world. With so many travel rewards, I simply need to decide what to do!
Flexible flights
The Capital One Venture gives me the chance to use my miles to visit freely. Since it's not affiliated with a particular airline, I'm able to book with any airline which has the best flight.
It pairs well with my Chase United Explorer card, that we use for all of my United Airlines related purchases. Although United is great, sometimes the very best flights and fares take presctiption an airline I'm able to only fly a couple of times. I recently used my Capital One Venture for a trip to Thailand on Singapore Airlines, which (around I wish it were) isn't a common occurrence for me. This map gives me options.
Travel benefits and protections
When I am abroad, I generally use my Capital One Venture not just for accommodation, but also for activities, restaurants and shopping, because it doesn't charge foreign transaction fees (unlike to a lot of travel cards). This fee is often 3% of the charge, so a holiday where I might spend $4,000 may cost $120 more.
I possess a particularly high credit limit on my small Capital One Venture card, and it saved my teenage daughter's life. A few years ago I took her towards the Dominican Republic. She suddenly fell seriously ill on a remote island in the center of your way. I rushed her towards the local hospital, but before they admitted her I needed to post $1,000 bail. The final bill was more than $5,000. Even though I had a lot money available in my checking account, charge cards are the most useful tool to use because they are built-in consumer protection.
Additionally, this Capital One charge card includes Eno, Capital One's fraud monitoring program. Being away from US and charging a lot was nerve wracking, but I knew my account was protected, allowing me to pay attention to the key task of helping my daughter recover.
In the finish, even with a $95 annual fee, my Capital One Venture Rewards card is a bargain. I'm glad to have it!
